My wife is turning into a Libertarian. It started with the issue of mandatory vaccinations against the HPV. She thinks it shouldn't be mandated. I don't really have a dog in the fight, but I can see both sides of it. As it turns out, she also doesn't think drugs (even the most extreme ones) should be illegal. She feels the government doesn't have a right to infringe on individual choices. Everyone has to be in a "camp". No one, including my wife, seems to decide on political stances on an issue by issue basis. As for me, I don't believe requiring a person to wear seat belts by law is right, but I certainly think that crystal meth should be illegal.
Have you noticed that gas prices can rise 20 to 30 cents in an hour, but takes a couple of weeks to drop that much? What a scam.
People eat out too much.
My wife needs to find a way to make money at home. Her work life stresses us both out. She started selling things on Ebay, but I doubt she can make a living at it.
I have been thinking about posting a serial on this blog. I want to take my writing discipline to the next level. Don't worry, if I do, I will have a warning at the top of the page so those that don't want to deal with that can leave quickly.
Spammers are insane about offering people lower mortgages. That and male enhancement are the most spammed thing on the Internet in my experience. I guess some may take a chance on male enhancement on the Internet if they think they need it, but who answers a mortgage spam? That is kind of important to just take a chance on someone that uses that kind of disrespected marketing, don't you think?
There are too many commercials on talk radio. Most of the stuff I hear on it, I disagree with. I wonder why I listen. I guess I like irritation.

Wow...good thing I am a multi-tasker, I went right along with you as we jumped from topic to topic :-)
I like your writing. I'd love to see what else you've got in store for us.
PS- The whole vaccines issue...you best just leave that one alone, it's a hot button nowadays. A lot of feathers get ruffled on both side of the coin with that topic. On the other hand, when in doubt...jump right into controversy, right?
I guess your wife hasn't had HPV. It's scary to think that something so uncomfortable could become something that could kill you.
If I had a daughter, I would get her the vaccine. The fact that it apparently is MOST effective if you begin the vaccinations at an early age is the real consideration. If you wait until your child is sexually active, it could already be too late. And they will be. Maybe not now, but at some point in their life they will be - and you want them to already be protected. That said, I'm not sure how I feel about the government MANDATING it. Probably a good idea though. Like chicken pox and polio and measles - only some people want to discriminate against it because it's a SEXUALLY-TRANSMITTED disease. Hell, if there were a vaccine for AIDs that worked, I'd make sure my kid got THAT!
Puff, puff, puff - whew! Off my soapbox now.
is it possible that by mandating the shot that those who can't afford it for their kids would get it for free "because it's mandated"??? Otherwise , as usual, the poor get...nothing.
just a thought.
Hurrah for Libertarianism, we say (of course, we may be a bit biased.) The less our legislators legislate, the better off we are.
Peace.

Mermaid: Wow, actually ASKING to read my stuff. Now YOU are truly what I call an asset to the blogging world - at least mine. ;) And yeah, I jump into controversy - especially here. I have to tread too lightly at my job to pussyfoot around on my own blog.
Sayre: I brought up both Polio and Small Pox to my wife when we discussed this. Great minds . . . She just poo poo-ed it off like everyone else that tows a company line. How ANYONE can think that one political orientation is appropriate for ALL situations is beyond me - that goes for Walt and Bonnie too - LOL
DesLily: I don't know how mandating the shot would effect the poor. I would think it would work similarly to each state's free and reduced lunch programs.
Walt and Bonnie: I figured you guys would dig the whole Libertarianism bit. ;)
I agree with your stance that illegal drugs should remain as such. The government has to outlaw somethings that are dangerous, otherwise they keep thinking up things like making seatbelts mandatory.
And as someone who drives an SUV, I hate the whole gas price story!
When you think about it laws are made to protect people. Seatbelts save lives and thats why its a law, although its not always enforced. Another example would be illegal drugs. Overdoeses, influencing others to get high thereby risking there lives, robbing people for money to get there next fix, it's all crazy. All of those harmful drugs should stay illegal.
